The First Nightwalker

Nightwalkers have been around since the beginning of time. They serve Empress Cygnus and protect her with their lives. They are mysterious yet loyal using darkness, luck and dexterity to tear apart their foes. Their swift, quick movements are unmatched by any other class of warriors. The origin of these powerful warriors is as mysterious as the warriors themselves. Some say they are related to the night lord class which is true because they are both thieves, but their true origin begins many years ago with the birth of the first nightwalker, Eckhart.

As the legend goes Eckhart was born out of darkness created by the spirit Umbra. When he was born he was an orphan fending for himself all alone in the slums of Kerning City. People said he was a master thief stealing food and clothes for his survival, but he was still weak. He wasn't strong enough many of the monsters that roamed around the slums and spent many of his nights awake watching for any attackers. One day the first thief in the history of maple Dark Lord was recruiting thieves to join his academy. Walking through the slums he found Eckhart swiftly using rocks as throwing stars to fend off a mob of snails. Amazed by how an untrained thief such as Eckhart could make use of tiny rocks as throwing stars, Dark Lord took him under his wing.

Eckhart used the dark powers granted to him by Umbra to excel in the academy. In fact he grew to be unmatched in all areas of battle. He was so strong that he learned high level skills like flash jump and triple throw earlier than anyone. Eventually Dark Lord decided it was time that Eckhart left the academy as he was too powerful for it. Eckhart was sent to Empress Cygnus for further training. She decided it was his destiny to become a Cygnus Knight. The Cygnus Knights were an elite group of warriors handpicked by Empress Cygnus herself to protect the Maple World from harm. These Knights all have sworn to dedicate their lives for the better of Maple World and the protection of the Empress.

Eckhart was then sent to Neinheart who trained all the Knights. Eckhart finished the quests provided by Neinheart with ease and quickly became popular among the other Knights. Eckhart was granted permission to create a thief division in the Cygnus Knights if he could defeat the great Pink Bean all by himself. Everyone in Maple World knew that Pink Bean was the most powerful monster in Maple Story and defeating him was an impossible task let alone doing it alone.

As the legend goes Pink Bean appears every now and then to harass the people of maple story, but these events were highly unlikely and occurred in random times. Eckhart's chance came when Pink Bean captured Empress Cygnus and trapped her in his giant under belly. With all the other Knights occupied on various missions Eckhart was chosen to save the Empress. He traveled for many years trying to find Pink Bean and one day he was about to give up when suddenly Pink Bean appeared.

Eckhart was in shock when he saw the size of the enormous monster. It was as big as a mountain and as quick as Eckhart himself, but Eckhart didn't give up. Staying toe to toe with the monster he attacked it many times. Unfortunately, all his attacks were deflected by Pink Bean and he was slowly running out of throwing stars. Eckhart couldn't continue like this because he was down to his last bit of mana.

Using his last bit of energy Eckhart leaped into the mouth of Pink Bean. He slid down battling through tissue and fat till he reached the prison of the Empress. Using his trusted claw he cut through the barrier that ensnared the Empress. Even though the Empress was freed, Pink Bean wasn't dead.

Eckhart was clueless with what to do, but somewhere in the back of his mind he heard the spirit of darkness, Umbra, guiding him. Eckhart knew what he had to do. Climbing through Pink Bean's body, Eckhart reached Pink Bean's miniscule heart. It was the smallest thing he had ever seen, and wondered how something so big could have such a small heart. Since he had only one star left there was no room for error. Using the power of darkness to guide him he threw the star. Sailing through the tissue that surrounded the heart the throwing star was directly on target. The star pierced through the heart and created a hole in the monsters chest. As if on cue Pink Bean disappeared into the dark depths of the universe.

Eckhart was welcomed by the other Knights as a hero. He was crowned a Captain Knight by the Empress. That day a new breed of Cygnus Knights was formed. They were known as the nightwalkers. Eckhart then joined the other captains, Mihile, Oz, Irena, and Hawkeye, to lead the Cygnus Knights.

They are mysterious yet loyal using darkness, luck and dexterity to tear apart their foes.

I understand "LUK" is a stat, but this description contradicts itself. "Luck" implies little to no skill, while "dexterity" implies lots of skill. I'd go with the flattering one, myself.

Eckhart

That's a terrible name. The first syllable is close to being an exclamation of disgust, and the word as a whole is a chore on the tongue.

Oh. This is an actual character. My bad.

What business does a magical spirit have, creating an orphan child and dumping him in the streets where he can annoy people with petty crimes?

With all the other Knights occupied on various missions Eckhart was chosen to save the Empress. He traveled for many years trying to find Pink Bean and one day he was about to give up when suddenly Pink Bean appeared.

What errand could possibly be more important than saving the leader and foundation of their order? Now you're telling me this went on for years, and still nobody else cared to join in. Great going, Knights. And the only guy on the job was going to give up, too. The empress sure is panned out to be important here.

Eckhart was in shock when he saw the size of the enormous monster. It was as big as a mountain and as quick as Eckhart himself, but Eckhart didn't give up.

How do you travel around the world for years and not so much as obtain any leads about something "as big as a mountain"? Can you imagine the physics of this thing?

Aaaand he swiftly locates an almost microscopic heart in a maze of winding tunnels established to be as big as a mountain, and saves the empress who is somehow alive and unchanged after being held captive without nourishment and presumably without oxygen. For years.

OK.
