A lot of sites are powered by PHP (including MT and its forum), which is simple and easy to learn, and appears to be powerful... until you notice that all its modular functions are long and weirdly named because of a lack of namespaces and organization.

Holy moly the core of PHP is the same spaghetti code as most people produce using it.
