I'm deviating from my norm PQ guides. mush1i.gif

1. How to Use this Guide
----------------------------------------------
-Simple. The guide, for each level interval there will be 5 sections - Training, LUKless Funded/Unfunded, and Normal Funded/Unfunded.
-This is OPTIMAL armor. You can get other stuff if you want, I'm just listing the goodies. This guide covers Lv1-30. I maybe will add 31-50 later, but right now, it's just this.

~Ctrl - F~
Wanna get to a section, but it's unfindable? Press and hold Ctrl key on your computer and press F. Then search for the keywords, like Lv25-30 Training.

~Basics~
-A Mage is like a Bandit/Assassin combined, with less accuracy and damage. And less range.

Pros
-Mages have MAGIC. A lot of monsters are weak to magic.
-Magic Guard replaces 80% of HP with MP, at max. Means you have more technical HP than warriors.
-Clerics get Heal AND Holy Symbol. HS increases your exp gain. mush1i.gif
-Excellent mobbers past 50 'cept for Fire Mages.
-Fire Mages level really fast, at Nath after 40-47.
-Clerics are almost the most wanted class in PQs.

Cons
-REALLY low HP. Magic Guard can substitute it, however.
-Smaller range than Assassins/Archers
-Weaker damage at around 40-60.
-Weak weapon defense.

Mages need INT and LUK. LUK = +3 your level. If you were Lv45, your LUK is 48. This is for normal mages. The rest goes into INT.

You advance to a Mage at Lv8 with at least 20 INT by talking to Grendel the Really Old in the library (top) in Ellinia.

You have 3 2nd Job choices. Fire/Poison Mage, Ice/Lightning Mage, and Cleric.

------------------------------------------------
2. Equipment and Training
------------------------------------------------
Lv1 - 7

Be sure to roll a 4/4 in STR and DEX, however, 4/5 and 5/4 is okay, but 4/4 is perfect. Do all the Maple Island quests, except Yoonaís snail/shroom one and Dr. Robin. Iíll explain why later. Do New Life, it gives you a Hat with +30 HP, and all of Maiís training.

When youíre Lv7 with 60%+ EXP, or Lv8 with UNDER 2% EXP, make sure all the necessary quests are done, then head to Victoria Island by talking to Shanks. Talk to Olaf and do the Path of the Magician, but DO NOT finish Biggís quest. It gives 500 EXP, and thatíll probably get you to Lv9, and you donít want that. The taxi is the guy beside Jane, go to Ellinia. Go to the top, and talk to Grendel to become a Magician!

Your equipment after you advance should be your basic beginner equips, and the Red Sporty Cap. Don't worry about weapons, you get a free one. Do the quest to get free pots.

Equipment
{Unfunded/Funded, LUKless/LUK.}
Basic Beginner Equips
Red Sporty Cap
Sword

Training

Talk to Grendel. He'll instruct you to go see the job advancement instructor. He's three maps north of Ellinia. Make sure you have ~100 Orange Pots and ~50 Mana Elixirs. Talk to him, and go in. Kill the monsters and get 30 Dark Marbles. When you have them, go out, talk with the instructor, Return Scroll or walk to Ellinia, and talk to Grendel. Now you can Job Advance!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can choose from three jobs. Click here to find out more.

This guide does not protect against STDs. If you experience stomach ache, nausea, explosive diarrhea, or even death, contact your physician because this guide may not be right for you.

No seriously. On your mage travels you may experience lots of people who will defame you, fame you, bash you, troll you, be nice to you, give you stuff, act like an idiot in front of you. If they are nice, yeah. If they're not, don't retaliate. Report, reflect, and move on.

Done.
Progress - 100%
I think the discrepancy's gone.

This guide goes up to Lv30 for now. But to answer your question, Fire Mages do level fast. At Lv30-37, they can`t really do anything, but being accepted into CPQ is fairly easy. After you get a decent level of Fire Arrow, you can train at godly speeds. But still, find a crowded and small map, because FA doesn`t have that much range, and you can`t mob.

Poison Brace is very fast for training. When you're level 50ish, or whenever, you can train on higher level monsters and just sit back and relax while the poison does the job.
