After you beat John's quest, you can mine ores from the statue. I'm level 27, so I can't do his 2nd quest yet.
Anyway, I decided to do some research, by doing the quest 14 times...
This is what I found:
The ore you get depends on how many ledges away you are from the flowers. It is a random selection out of 2 possable ores:
0 - Steel and Silver
1 - Orihalcon and Adaminum
2 - Steel and Orihalcon
3 - Bronze and Orihalcon
4 - Steel and Adaminutm
Couldn't find Mithril or Gold throught my attempts...
Anyway, if you prove me wrong, post here.
And my time is 3:30 for the 3rd to last attempt. I fell 0 times and got hit once(if I remember correctly)
I could post a guide to the Statue if there's demand for it.

if u guys wanted to get better ores such as GOLD,DIAMOND,and BLACK crystal,
u guys can to shumi quest 3 and after u finish doin it, u get that instead of random ores like the other1

yes you do, along with some mineral ores. btw i heard shumi's level 40 jump gives diamonds, golds and black crystals.

Interesting...last time I did his quest (Been a while since it was worth my time), I always got 2 ores of the same kind. They must have changed it. Same with his second quest; I've never gotten minerals from it, only jewels.

I get 2 ores of the same kind too, but I(usially) get diffrent ones when I do it again.

Well yes, I got different ores, but I've never gotten 2 different ores at the same time. In any quest. Sabitrama, Shumi, or John, all of them give 2 similar ores at the same time. Has it been changed, or am I really blind?
I would think it's 2 of the same ore because they only require you to have 1 empty item slot before clicking on the flowers. Getting 2 different ores takes up 2 different slots.
