Hi there. I've been training my warrior a lot lately, and I'm positive I'm making it a Fighter. The only thing I'm unsure of is whether I should use Two-Handed Swords, or One-Handed Swords with shields. Anyone have a suggestion?
One-Handed Sword or Two-Handed Sword?

I think it'd be slightly cheaper for a two-handed sword. As the only 'good' shield is the maple shield. And, you'd want an ATK one, AND a well scrolled sword. At higher levels, the sword cost will be pretty high, even for one-handed. x.x
With the two-handed one, you'd have to pay less, since it's just the sword.
I think one-handed swords are faster, but weaker than two-handed. So, you'd need an ATK shield to match up to it.
Yeah, I went two-handed with my Sword-Page.

Personally, I'm going Two-Handed first, then switching to One-Handed at level 70. There are two reasons why I do this:
1. Two-Handed Swords are much more expensive in the higher levels.
2. The level 70 One-Hand, Red Katana, is Fast (4), two attack speeds higher than the Normal (6) of Two-Handed Swords. Combined with Booster, it has godly raw damage/minute.
Keep in mind that Two-Handeds beat One-Handeds in range of weapon swing, maximum damage and average damage. It's all about personal preference though, try using both, then ditching one of them when you get to a higher level.

Two handed sword. A decent red katana can cost ~40-100 mil.

What attack do you mean by decent?

If you have enough cash and are willing to work up to 4th job, 1h swords is definitely the way to go. At 4th, the skill 'Brandish', has equal range with both 1h and 2h, yet 1h attacks faster with it I believe. Good attack shields cost an assload however, meaning I'm talking in the hundreds of millions. So if you're starting new 2h sword would be your best bet.

More like, a godly one. It's been a while, but 2H have always cost more than 1H. As mentioned, brandish has a fixed range, and because 1H swords are faster, and with an ATT shield, 1H are the way to go in late game. However, I would recommend 2H until you have the funds and level as the range and power advantages of the 2H swords are better than the speed and price advantages of 1H swords.

And if I'm not mistaken, there's a skill in the 4th job where you have a chance of blocking an attack with your shield. 4th job is a long way ahead though, also considering I'll still be training my Wizard and Hunter. Anyway, thanks for all of your suggestions, they've helped a lot.

Two weeks old, so the TC might have made a decision by now. Also, a more descriptive response may be a bit more helpful next time.
