Like cMS, it seems like gMS will be getting a censored (Seriously, it's not nerfed) version of Showa, due to its appearance in gMS Tespia.

Apparently, guns and swords are too violent... in America.

What are your opinions on this act of Nexon pulling a "Jack Thompson?" Personally, the reactions are funny, but that's just me.

EDIT: Upon further inspection, one particular map did get "nerfed", because the tanks that you used to be able to stand on were removed. Most people know this map formerly as the Armory (which isn't an Armory anymore).

Wow, this totaly sucks that we get a half assed version of Showa! As if nexon has not already pissed off its members for not taking proper care of its coustomers and players.

Pirates and Infighters might have Super Soakers and pool noodles by the time we get them. I think 13 year olds can handle pixelated guns.

One of the ironies I see here is that we do have a machine gun CS item for crossbows whereas we have a kiddie version of CMS.

Slashing of sharp killing swords
Electrocution
Throwing Knives
A skill called "Assassinate"
and much more

are allowed by Nexon, but guns aren't.

What, a kid sees a gun on maple he's gonna go out, buy one, and shoot someone? That's a very vague thing to think. A kid might also see a dagger in maple, get a kitchen knife, and then try recreate savage blow on his older brother.

What also surprises me is that they removed the spear rack in the armory. Anyone else think, LOL SPEARMAN?!?

Well, at least showa is still showa and it's premise is kinda the same... weirdface7ut.gif

I think the censorship has it's advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages

1: It's funny to see Yakuza trying to look tough holding cellphones, toy hammers ETC.

2: If they were holding guns, GMS would be flooded with FPS players, As a result, there would be thousands of Halo 3 n00bs saying "LOL Masheen gunz mesos plox"

Disadvantages

1: The enemies look awkward holding odd weapons.

2: the attitude of showa is slightly different.

I may have left some stuff out, I didn't want to make a 3-page long post.

I'm not really surprised that they censored a lot of things in Showa,since they already got coverage from FOX news a while back.If Nexon didn't censor Showa,they might receive bad publicity making the company look bad.At lease we are getting showa,they can replace the tank with 2 platforms. weirdface7ut.gif

I don't think it's such a big deal. Like Lumineux said, at least we're getting Showa, right? Nexon appeared in the news with minor criticism anyway (concerning the "cost of Maplestory"). Parents don't really need another reason to complain... wacko2.gif

This really pisses me off, they took out tanks from Showa? I understand guns (Even thought I disagree).. but tanks? That's ridiculous, I don't even care about how Showa's going to look but them taking tanks out because it's a symbol of violence is contradicting a bunch of things they originally had. Might as well just blur the tips of swords while they're at it, hell blur my wand too by the time this gets released I'll probably have quit. Meanwhile people are getting married, online. Ridiculous.
