They get scrolled for either attack, or magic attack. For upgrading for attack, three out of the four classes use the attack upgrade to thier advantage. Brown ones are special because they have seven slots, instead of the standard five. Other coloured ones are semi personal, but again, every class can wear them.

Simply put: They are a nice starter glove.

Why it takes people a while to figure out you can MAKE these gloves for a lot less then people are selling is beyond me. I guess people don't like talking to NPCs. The world may never know.

You can grind on monsters to find a better glove than a work glove.

so 20 million meso is a reasonable price for a brown work glove with 7 slots?

Yes. However it may seem, BWGs are notoriously overpriced for the ability to possibly have up to 21 w att if you're godly at scrolling. If all 7 slots are 10%'d and all are successful, you get 21, 14 for 60%-ing, and 7 for 100%-ing. Compared to 15, 10, and 5 for any other glove.

This is usually for those who go for the DEXless/LUKless/etc style. It's rather tricky, but that's the new thing nowadays. Since the majority of the gloves require a set amount due to the the secondary SP, many go for the easier types that require no prerequisites. Why not go for something that's easy to aquire? Reguardless of how trite it might sound, it's great for making quick cash in the FMs if you're low on mesos. (shrugs) It's a win/win situation for everyone...

colored wg= depending on color may have more slots to scroll onto and make a stronger glove with attack and sell for more.

white wg = simply just a nice wg that ppl like to scroll to try make 10atk wg's and sell for 20-25mil or just to use

Would it be worth it to buy leathers and sell clean wgs if you don't have a store?
Also, how much do 100% glove atks cost?

Like some people said, they're common for all classes and can be upgraded to something awesome. Also can use at lvl 10+
